Giants Rookie Assigns Blame After Heartbreaking Loss to Saints
The New York Giants fell 26-14 to the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, giving the Saints their first win of the season, and one prominent youngster is stepping up and taking blame for his role in the team’s letdown.
Rookie running back Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, took to social media in the aftermath of the Giants’ road loss.
Skattebo, one of two rookies the Giants are leaning on offensively, saw his inefficiency catch up to him.
The 23-year-old RB was one of three Giants players who lost a fumble during the contest. It was but one aspect of the Giants’ loss, but Skattebo’s approach speaks to his level of maturity.

Skattebo tallied 59 yards on 15 carries, adding another 45 yards on six receptions. He did not cross the goal line, making his gaffe stand out that much more.
“Sorry giants fans!!!” Skattebo posted on X shortly after the game. “I’ll be better for yall!!!! Love!!!”
Skattebo has now rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns on 63 carries along with a18 catches for 143 yards out of the backfield.
At one point during Sunday’s contest, Skattebo was spotted on the Giants’ bench requesting a new pair of gloves, which drew attention amid New York’s giveaway issues.

Skattebo drew attention during the game for positive reasons too.
He has already earned a reputation for his decleating blocks, and he cleared Saints defensive end Carl Granderson on a block in Week 5. Fellow Giants rookie, quarterback Jaxson Dart, completed 65% of his passes for 202 yards, two TDs, and two interceptions.
He was also sacked four times, while the Giants allowed the Saints to score 10 unanswered points in the second half, and surrendered 23 straight points after leading 14-3.
Skattebo was hardly the only culprit in the Giants’ loss, but he is at least owning up to his part in it.
