Giants Wideouts Gush Over Catching Passes from Russell Wilson

Throughout the course of last season, the New York Giants wide receivers found themselves catching passes from an array of different quarterbacks. Following some drastic improvements at the position in the offseason, the wideouts seem to be greatly enjoying their new situation.

After going 2-8 in 10 starts to open the 2024 campaign, the Giants decided to put an end to the Daniel Jones experiment and waived the former top-ten pick. They then decided to address the position in both the draft and free agency. New York traded into the back end of the first round to select Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart at No. 25. Then in free agency, the front office inked former Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson to a one-year deal.

With OTA’s underway, the Giants receivers have had a chance to get acclimated to their new quarterback. Amid some recent comments, it’s a change they’ve enjoyed greatly. Following Thursday’s action, Wan’Dale Robinson opened up on the conversations he and Darius Slayton have had regarding Wilson’s passing.

Since being drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft, Robinson has slowly taken on more within the Giants’ receiver core. He had his best season to date in 2024, racking up nearly 700 receiving yards and three touchdowns. As for Slayton, he is coming off a down year. However, with a player like Wilson under center now, he has a chance to get his career back on track.

Early in his career, Wilson was viewed as arguably the top quarterback in the sport. That said, since his time with the Seattle Seahawks, he’s had a steep fall from grace. Following a shaky tenure with the Denver Broncos, Wilson found himself on the Pittsburg Steelers last season in hopes of reviving his career. He’d end up starting just 11 games after taking over for Justin Fields in Week 7.

Now with the Giants, Wilson once again has a chance to salvage the back end of his NFL career. Signing a one-year deal, it’s evident he is just a placeholder while Dart learns behind him. However, it’s still an opportunity to showcase his value. If he can put together a promising campaign in New York, it could lead to opportunity elsewhere.

Looking at the rest of the NFC East, the Giants are going to need a bounce-back year from Wilson if they want to compete. The Philadelphia Eagles look poised to repeat as champions, and the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders both improved in the offseason. With this stacked competition around them, New York has to be ready to battle every week.
