Golden Retriever Boarding Plane With ‘Her Stuffy’ Delights Internet

A heartwarming video of a canine passenger that “can’t fly without her stuffy” has gone viral on TikTok.

The viral clip from user @ilovegolden_retrievers has amassed 1.4 million views since it was posted Sunday.

The video shows the golden retriever walking onto the plane while proudly carrying her stuffed toy “Penny” in her mouth.

Wearing a harness labeled “service dog,” the pup calmly makes her way down the aisle, later settling into her seat with Penny still in her grasp.

In the caption accompanying the post, the dog’s owner wrote: “Boarding the plane with ‘Penny!’ To clear up any confusion, Emma is the name of my dog. Penny is the name of her stuffy.”

While it’s not known how long Emma has had Penny, her attachment to the beloved stuffed toy could be due to its novelty, according to a November 2012 study conducted with Labrador retrievers.

The study, published in Animal Cognition, said that “domestic dogs are reported to show intense but transient neophilia [a love for all things new] towards novel objects.”

The post comes as the pet toys market in the United States was found to have generated revenue of $2,129.1 million in 2023 and is expected to reach $3,763.4 million by 2030, according to a report by Grand View Research, a market research and consulting company in San Francisco.

The U.S. market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8.5 percent from 2024 to 2030, and the country accounted for 24 percent of the global pet toys market in 2023. The U.S. is projected to lead both the global and North American markets in terms of revenue in 2030, according to the report.

The golden retriever’s adorable display of loyalty to her stuffed toy has delighted TikTok viewers, with many praising her calm demeanor and sweet companionship.
