TCU took an early 14-0 lead and took the advantage for good when Nate McCashland cashed in on a 29-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter as the Horned Frogs took a 17-14 win at Houston last week. Josh Hoover threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns while tossing three interceptions, while Jeremy Payne logged 103 yards on 18 carries. Eric McAlister and Jordan Dwyer caught scoring passes, and Jordan Manjack IV finished with nine receptions for 95 yards.
Cincinnati’s slide continued last week as it was eliminated from Big 12 championship contention with a 26-14 loss at home to No. 11 BYU. Brendan Sorsby finished 25-of-38 for 300 yards and two touchdowns with an interception and also ran for a team-high 38 yards. Cyrus Allen and Jeff Caldwell had scoring catches, but the defense couldn’t stop the Cougar running attack, which rolled up 265 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bearcats visit TCU for just the second time in a series that is tied at 2-2. The Horned Frogs won 14-10 at Cincinnati last season in the teams’ first meeting since 2004.
