Los Angeles won the series opener in comeback fashion thanks to a two-run double from Enrique Hernandez, followed by a three-run homer from Teoscar Hernandez. Philadelphia managed to limit Shohei Ohtani at the plate, striking out the superstar slugger four times, but the two-way player struck out nine players of his own while on the mound.
The Phillies will need to get the top four hitters in their lineup going in order to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole. Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and Alec Bohm combined to go 1-13 in Game 1, which will not cut it against a talented Dodgers team.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the start for Los Angeles in Game 2, while Jesus Luzardo will take the mound for the Phillies in what could end up being a pitchers’ duel.
