The James Madison Dukes (10-1) look to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive on Saturday afternoon when they visit the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (6-5) before hosting the Sun Belt Conference championship game next week.

James Madison won its ninth straight game last week, with Wayne Knight’s 58-yard touchdown run with 6:24 remaining giving the Dukes a 24-20 non-conference victory over visiting Washington State. Knight finished with 126 yards on 15 carries while Alonza Barnett III threw for 144 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Coastal Carolina has lost its last two games, including a 51-7 thumping at South Carolina in a non-conference encounter last week. Jameson Tucker scored the only touchdown for the Chanticleers, blocking a punt and scooping it up for a 17-yard score midway through the fourth quarter. Tad Hudson was 27-of-36 for 174 yards passing, while the run game was held to 46 yards. The Gamecocks piled up 579 yards of offense in the victory.
The Dukes are 7-0 in the Sun Belt and clinched the East Division title. Next week, they will host the winner of Saturday’s Troy at Southern Miss game that will decide the West Division in the conference title game, and they are in the hunt for the Group of 5’s guaranteed spot in the College Football Playoff, provided they run the table. James Madison has four straight wins against Coastal Carolina, including a 39-7 win at home on Oct. 10, 2024, and leads the all-time series 4-1.
