The Wanamaker Mile race this year features Yared Nuguse, who has won the past two times, coming close to the indoor mile record both years but coming up just shy. Can Nuguse get the record this time around? Yomif Kejelcha currently holds it at 3:47.01, while Nuguse is second at 3:47.38.
Nuguse won bronze in the 1,500 at the 2024 Paris Olympics and silver in the 3,000 at the 2024 World Indoor Championships.
Other big names to watch include Olympic gold medalist Cole Hocker as well as bronze medalist Grant Fisher. Hocker won the 1,500 in 2024, where he set an Olympic record. Fisher left Paris with a pair of bronzes in the 5,000 and 10,000.
On the women’s side, all eyes will be on the pole vault, where Olympic gold medalist Katie Moon will compete. The 33-year-old Ohioan won gold in Tokyo and then followed that up with a silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She’s also won gold twice in the World Championships.
