Insider’s Update on Micah Parsons’ Rift With Jerry Jones
Over the past few weeks, the Dallas Cowboys have been one of the biggest talking points in the NFL. As things continue to escalate with Micah Parsons, one insider detailed the latest regarding his relationship with one key member of the organization.
Now in the final year of his rookie contract, Parsons has been adamant about working out an extension with the Cowboys. He and Jerry Jones had some positive discussions earlier this offseason, but things have gone astray since the star linebacker got his agent involved to negotiate on his behalf.
After still finding himself without a deal midway through training camp, Parsons decided to send things into a frenzy. Last week, he posted a long message on social media that noted he had informed the Cowboys he wished to be traded.

Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones haven’t spoken since viral trade request
Parsons has decided not to hold out, but has been limited in camp due to back soreness. While he is still around the team, it remains unclear what his status will be when it comes time to officially kick off the season.
Though Parsons is present, his relationship with the organization is far from stable at this point. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the All-Pro linebacker hasn’t spoken with Jones since his trade request went public.

When addressing the media on Tuesday, Jones had nothing but positive things to say about Parsons and noted he is still part of the organization’s long-term vision.
“I think the world of Micah,” Jones said after Tuesday’s practice, via The Athletic. “He’s one of the brightest people I’ve ever been around. He’s very, very talented. Now, how we ultimately meld him in with our future is a challenge. I’m built for it and he’s built for it.”
While these remarks seemed encouraging, the same could not be said about Jones’ response on if he expects to see Parsons on the field Week 1.
“No, absolutely not,” Jones said. “A big part of that is his decision. How would I know that? I’m just saying. No, but I’m urgent. … We will work through it or we will not work through it.”
As of now, the Cowboys have shown no willingness to entertain the idea of a trade since Parsons requested to be moved. For the time being, the goal still seems to be working out a deal that keeps the 26-year-old in Dallas moving forward.
