Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence Exits Game After Brutal Hit to Head

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has exited the game in what appears to be a concussion.

Lawrence took a big shot after attempting to slide, and he has now left the game. This is tragic considering he just returned after suffering an AC joint injury, leading to him missing the last two games.

Lawrence was attempting to slide on a run, and Houston Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shaair came in. He struck Lawrence in the head, resulting in the quarterback appearing to be in significant pain.

Lawrence appeared to be concussed, as he was slow to get up. This is a tragedy considering he had just returned from missing the last two weeks due to a shoulder injury. Despite the Jaguars being 2-9 on the season and not poised for a playoff run, the young quarterback still returned to action.

Now, Lawrence will have to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the brutal headshot he just received.

Following the late hit, both the Texans and Jaguars got into a huge scuffle. The result of the fight and the hit led to Al-Shaair being ejected from the game.

Following the ejection, fans were apparently throwing objects at linebacker Al-Shaair. As he was being escorted off the field, the Texans defensive player was shown shouting at fans who were throwing objects at him.

This is not a good look all around, and the league is likely going to investigate to determine if any further punishment will be dished out to players involved in the fight.

The Jaguars will now have Mac Jones in at quarterback, and Lawrence is likely to be ruled out due to suffering the presumed concussion after the hit from Al-Shaair. Losing Lawrence to a serious injury at this point in the season is horrible.

As stated, the Jaguars are not in a place to make the postseason, and it would have been smarter to sit Lawrence for the rest of the season to prepare for 2025. This is especially true considering that he suffered a shoulder injury after Week 9.

Lawrence missed Weeks 10 and 11 and was able to heal up during the Jaguars’ Week 12 bye. Now, he is likely to miss the rest of the regular season due to what appears to be a concussion.

Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract before the 2024 regular season started, placing him tied with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow as the highest-paid quarterback at the time. Both are paid $55 million per season due to their deals.
