Joe Biden’s Farewell Letter Takes ‘Civil War’ Swipe at Donald Trump
President Joe Biden has released a farewell letter to Americans, appearing to gibe President-elect Donald Trump.
In the letter published online by the White House on Wednesday, Biden appeared to refer to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters as the “worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.
“Four years ago, we stood in a winter of peril and a winter of possibilities,” he wrote.
“We were in the grip of the worst pandemic in a century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War. But we came together as Americans, and we braved through it. We emerged stronger, more prosperous, and more secure.”
This breaking story will be updated.
