Justin Bieber Calls Himself ‘Selfish’ in Candid Admission
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Justin Bieber is getting candid about the self-doubt that he often experiences following rumors about drug use and his mental health.
The 31-year-old pop star took to his Instagram Story on Thursday, March 13, to share a post detailing how he often feels undeserving of the success and praise he has received throughout the years despite being a megastar.
“People told me my whole life ‘Wow Justin you deserve that’ and I personally have always felt unworthy…Like I was a fraud,” he wrote.

The “Lonley” singer admitted to being critical of others and feeling like he is deceiving them, writing, “Like when people told me I deserve something it made me feel sneaky like…Damn if they only knew my thoughts… How judgemental I am, how selfish I really am…They wouldn’t be saying this.”
The two-time Grammy Award-winning artist said he shared his inner thoughts to let people know they are not alone.
“I say all this to say. If you feel sneaky welcome to the club,” he penned. “I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.”

The candid post comes following accusations from fans that the singer-songwriter was unwell and using hard drugs because of how he was presenting himself in public in February. However, Bieber’s rep spoke to TMZ last month and vehemently denied these rumors.
His rep remarked that these rumors are “exhausting and pitiful” and show “people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive” despite the “obvious truth.”
The former teen idol’s rep told the outlet that he is focused on being a dad and making music, noting that 2024 was “very transformative for him as he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.”
The “Peaches” singer welcomed his first child, Jack Blues Bieber, with his wife, Hailey Bieber, in August 2024. Justin and the Rhode beauty founder tied the knot in 2018 and have shared small glimpses into their life on social media.
