Justin Trudeau’s Daughter, Ella-Grace, Tipped for Canada PM After Speech

Justin Trudeau’s daughter Ella-Grace Trudeau has been tipped as a future Canadian prime minister after she gave a speech at the Liberal Party leadership convention in last night.
Social media users were quick to speculate about a potential political career for the 16-year-old. She introduced her father at the convention, where it was announced that banking executive Mark Carney will become the next leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. The prime minister designate is set to take over from Trudeau this week and will take on the role at least until the country’s upcoming general election.

What Justin Trudeau’s Daughter Said
Ella-Grace Trudeau introduced her father at the Liberal leadership event on Sunday in Ottawa. In her speech, she said: “I’ve come here to talk to you about your prime minister, your leader, but to me, he’s just dad. I think we all know that being a prime minister is not the easiest job in the world. Long days of work stress, media attention. And it’s not that easy to be the kid of a prime minister either. I’ve been trying hard to live the life of a normal teenager, but I think you can imagine, it’s not that simple of a task. Security, rules, drama have all stopped me feeling free over the past few years.

“I’ve had some great conversations with my dad about the difficult situations I’ve lived through, and he never failed to make me feel better. He listened, and more than that, I knew he heard me. He understood me, because he lived through all that,” she said, of her father, who is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. “The only difference is that back then there was no social media.”
She continued: “I’ve gotta say, I’m looking forward to seeing more of him at home and less of him online. But I would never trade the last few years for anything. Dad, I’m so proud of you. I’m so proud to have seen you fight for our country, for what you believe in, for what we in this room believe in.”
“My brothers and I have shared our dad with you for the past 12 years, now we’re taking him back,” she said, before introducing her father who came on stage and hugged his daughter, before beginning his farewell speech.

Anthony Koch, conservative media personality, said: “I can’t even try to not like Ella-Grace’s speech. There’s something about a daughter speaking about her dad. For all of the criticism of Trudeau as a Prime Minister, it seems like he’s a good dad.”
Tracey Wilson, Vice President of Public Relations at the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights, responding to Koch’s comments, said: “Ella-Grace is a very put together 16 year old. Composed, confident, super likeable. I bet she’ll be the 3rd Trudeau Prime Minister.”

Who Is Ella-Grace Trudeau?
Ella-Grace Trudeau is one of three children that Justin Trudeau shares with his wife Sophie Grégoire, who he is separated from. Shortly after the separation was announced, the family went on a private vacation together, and the prime minister’s office explained at the time that: “Both parents will be a constant presence in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to often see the family together.”
Born in 2009, 16-year-old Ella-Grace Trudeau is Trudeau’s only daughter. Speaking to Vox in 2016, Justin Trudeau told the outlet that it is important for him to raise feminist children. He said that “I talk to our daughter, Ella … all the time about how she can do anything she wants and she’s just as good as any man, and she’s better than any man because she’s brilliant and she’s wonderful and everything.”
Back in November of 2024, Ella-Grace accompanied her father as he travelled to Brazil for the G20.
Wishing his daughter happy birthday in February of this year, Justin Trudeau wrote: “From the fearless little girl to the smart, young woman who inspires me every day — you’ve always been unstoppable.”
