Brunson injured his ankle late in the third quarter after battling for a loose ball. Brunson headed to the locker room, and his status for the rest of the game is uncertain.
Prior to exiting the game, Brunson recorded 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field, five rebounds, nine assists, and one block in 30 minutes of action.
UPDATE: Brunson has returned to the bench and is back on the floor.

The star guard injured his ankle earlier in the season, on March 6 in a match against the Los Angeles Lakers. The injury sidelined him for a month. He initially injured his right ankle after he landed on the foot of Lakers guard Austin Reaves after being fouled on a drive to the basket.
The Knicks were able to keep their head above water as they secured the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference without their All-Star guard.

It took some time for Brunson to get back to form, as it nearly took him a month to be cleared for basketball activities. The Knicks are currently leading this first-round series against the Pistons, 2-1.
In the series, the 28-year-old is averaging 33.7 points per game, 8.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.7 steals while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three in 41.0 minutes of action.
As for the regular season, Brunson played in 65 games and averaged 26.0 points per game, 7.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.9 steals while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three in 35.4 minutes.
It’s unclear if this injury will hamper Brunon’s play moving forward, but one thing is clear: the Knicks will host the Pistons for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden. Game 5 will take place on Tuesday in front of what will be a ruckus New York crowd, whether the series is tied or if the Knicks have a chance to close out the series.
