Lauren Boebert Slammed for Attending Trump Trial but Not Son’s Court Dates

Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert has faced criticism on social media after attending former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial in New York but previously missing her 19-year-old son’s court dates.

On Thursday, Lauren Boebert announced that she would be attending Trump’s trial in Manhattan, where he is accused of arranging and covering up hush money payments to former adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016, which he denies. Lauren Boebert did not attend recent court dates in Colorado for son Tyler Boebert.

“I’m in New York City for court with President Trump today,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “We are 100% behind him!”

In another post, she mentioned the daughter of New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who is overseeing Trump’s case. “I wonder if I’ll run into Judge Merchan’s daughter here in court today. She’s probably too busy being paid millions and millions of dollars by Democrat campaigns all across the country and won’t be able to make it. She’s likely busy working for Shifty Schiff again today…” she wrote.

“Boebert doesn’t show up for her son’s criminal court dates where he says he can’t afford a lawyer. Instead, the MAGA Mother of the Year is up in NYC giving a hand to Donald Trump,” Ron Filipkowski, the editor in chief of MeidasTouch and former federal prosecutor, wrote on X.

Newsweek reached out to Lauren Boebert’s press office via email for comment.

Tyler Boebert is currently facing 22 charges, including one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, according to Colorado’s Rifle Police Department and documents from Garfield County Jail. He is also facing charges including alleged misdemeanors, property thefts, and breaking into cars in his hometown of Rifle, Colorado.

Newsweek reported on Monday that Tyler Boebert showed up for a court date earlier this month and was criticized by the judge for not having an attorney present.

Ninth Judicial District Judge John F. Judge Neiley expressed disappointment for the delay. Addressing Tyler Boebert, he said: “I wish you had turned in that application a little sooner. If you’ve done that, you just have to wait for the public defender to make their decision.”

Lauren Boebert faced additional criticism on X from users including Randy Bryce, who wrote, “Same person didn’t show up for her son’s trial. Family first??”

Another user said, “Well, Lauren Boebert shows up for Donald Trump in court today, but she never showed up for her son’s court appearances. The Boebert kids don’t have a chance at a decent life with parents like them.”

And Brian Krassenstein posted, “As Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert travel to New York City to attend Trump’s trial, here’s a reminder, that Boebert’s teenage son Tyler Boebert was in court 7 days ago, without his mother and without a lawyer (he said he was having trouble paying for one).”

But, responding to Filipkowski’s post, one X user wrote: “TBH, the kid has two parents, right? Where is dad?”

Another drew attention to the June trial of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden and wrote, “Is Joe going to be at hunters trial? Either one of them? Or Jill??”

Hunter Biden is facing three felony counts relating to a gun purchase in 2018 where he allegedly lied about his drug use. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
