Magic Could Part With $25M Forward For Veteran All-Star Before Trade Deadline

The Orlando Magic are in a rough spot as we get closer to the NBA trade deadline. Orlando was once one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference but they have fallen down the standings as the year has gone on.

The Magic have dealt with all sorts of injuries this season but they’ve somehow stayed in the playoff race. But with the trade deadline approaching, Orlando could look to add some talent to help bolster their playoff chances.

In a new trade idea from Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, Orlando goes on to land the most highly-talked-about name on the trade block. That would be star forward Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat and this would be a three-team trade.

Here is what a deal between the three teams could look like:

Orlando Magic receive: F Jimmy Butler, G Alec Burks

Miami Heat receive: F Jonathan Isaac, G Gary Harris, F Jett Howard, DEN 2025 1st-round pick (via ORL)

Charlotte Hornets receive: G Cory Joseph, ORL 2025 2nd-round pick

“Butler can be their guy, especially if he’s willing to come in and be that final piece instead of stealing the spotlight from Banchero and Wagner. Defensively, Butler’s toughness and grit fit with the Magic perfectly. There wouldn’t be concerns about his play on that end of the floor for Orlando in this scenario.”

The Magic have been one of the best teams in the NBA on the defensive end of the floor this season but offensively, they are still a work in progress. Butler could change that and give them a true No. 1 option for clutch situations.

Paolo Banchero is very good but he is still learning how to win in the NBA, something Butler could help him with. The two could create a strong wing duo for the Magic and would make life tough on any opponent that they would face.

Orlando would be seen as more of a threat in the East this season if they were to add Butler. This would be a big gamble by the Magic but one that could work out well if Butler was willing to fit into the culture that Orlando has established already.
