Massive Trade Proposal Sees Thunder Add Elite 3-and-D Forward

With about three weeks left until the highly anticipated Feb. 6 trade deadline, things are starting to heat up.

Many teams in the league are looking to bolster their rosters, but none may have as many assets to construct a significant trade as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder are a team built to compete not only this season but for years to come. They have the assets to acquire any superstar they would like, but there is no need to do that this season.

Oklahoma City is one of, if not the best, teams in the league and is among the favorites to capture their first title in 2025. There is a lot of basketball left to play, but this trade proposal could put them over the top if they’re not there already.

This trade proposal sees the Thunder acquire one of the hottest and most coveted players on the trade deadline, Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson.

Thunder receive: Cameron Johnson

Nets receive: Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, a 2025 first-round pick, and a 2027 first-round pick

The Nets are likely not moving Johnson unless it’s for two first-round picks, and they get just that from the Thunder, who are looking to win now.

The Thunder have all they need to win as constructed now, but adding Johnson would elevate them to another level as far as the current contenders go. Johnson is an elite 3-and-D wing who has had a solid season thus far.

In 33 games this season, Johnson is averaging 19.6 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 0.8 steals while shooting 49.9 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from three in 32.6 minutes of action.

Johnson is under contract until 2027, so the Nets aren’t in a hurry to move him; however, if they get what they want for him, plus two solid players like Joe and Wiggins, then why not move him?

The Thunder are one team that could make a move to shake up their roster but are not serious suitors at this time.

One thing is for sure: if the Nets like what they see in an offer, Johnson will be on the move prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
