Mavericks Could Land $35M Forward in Massive Trade Idea

As we get closer to the NBA trade deadline, we have started to see teams get themselves set to make potential moves. While titles aren’t specifically won by deals made at the trade deadline, the trades that happen now can shape how a season turns out.

The Dallas Mavericks know this very well as they added multiple pieces at the trade deadline last season and got all the way to the NBA Finals. While Dallas didn’t win the championship, the team set itself up well for the future while also seeing immediate success.

Dallas could be in line to make another move or two this year at the trade deadline as they try to get back to the NBA Finals. The Mavericks still have a few pieces to work with trade-wise and it could see them make some additions.

In this new trade idea from Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World, the Mavericks bring in a two-time NBA champion. The deal is between the Mavericks and Toronto Raptors, landing veteran Chris Boucher in Dallas.

Here is what the deal could look like between the two sides:

Toronto Raptors Receive: Maxi Kleber and a 2025 Second-Round Pick (DEN/PHI)

Kleber did break his foot recently and will miss some time. But Toronto isn’t trying to win this season and could still look to acquire him.

The Raptors have been wanting to trade Boucher before the trade deadline since he will be a free agent at the end of the season. In this deal, they would land a decent player in Kleber who could replace him, as well as additional draft capital to work with.

Toronto typically plays hardball when it comes to trades so it may take at least two draft picks from Dallas to make it work. But nonetheless, a deal could be struck to land the defensive forward with the Mavericks.

Boucher could play alongside either Daniel Gafford or Dereck Lively II, setting Dallas up well. The big man could be used in different iterations of lineups for this team, helping the Mavericks gain extra size for the playoffs.

Due to his flexibility playing on the perimeter, he could give the Mavericks an extra weapon to use. Dallas was very good last season but Boucher could help take them to the next level in terms of role players.
