Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont Slams Rumors About Team Moving to Las Vegas
Since the Dallas Mavericks made the shocking decision to trade away star point guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, the news has been the talking point in the sports world. This trade has even managed to somewhat overshadow the Super Bowl, showing the level of impact it has had.
Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont finally broke his silence regarding the trade of Doncic and had some questionable comments.

But within, he also shot down all the rumors floating around about the Mavericks possibly moving to Las Vegas down the line.
“The Dallas Mavericks are not moving to Las Vegas,” Dumont said. “There is no question in that. That is the answer, unequivocally. The Dallas Mavericks are the Dallas Mavericks and they will be in Dallas.”

After the trade happened, some began to put on their conspiracy theory hats. This led to a thought that the owners were planning to move the Mavericks to Las Vegas so trading Doncic was a way to alienate the fanbase, easing the move.
But if Dumont is to be believed then the Mavericks are here to stay. The loyal fanbase is still very angry and has shown it in multiple ways.
They have held protests outside the American Airlines Arena, calling for general manager Nico Harrison to be fired. It has gotten so bad that some have sent death threats to Harrison which is a line that should have been crossed.

Some fans have even called for ownership to sell in the aftermath of the Doncic trade. Additionally, fans have held symbolic funerals for Doncic, bringing blue coffins in the process.

It has been a rough time for the Dallas fans and rightfully so with how important Doncic was to their community. The Mavericks traded away a 25-year-old superstar in his prime, something that rarely happens in the sports world.
It may take some time for the Mavericks fans to come to terms with the trade of Doncic but they will never forget. Even if Dallas were to win multiple NBA titles, the sting of this trade would likely be in the back of their minds.
