MET Group launches solar park construction in Romania
The energy trader has started construction of an 80 MWp solar energy project in Romania.
The project is part of the Swiss-based company’s strategy to establish itself as a major player in the European renewable energy market. MET already has an extensive portfolio of more than 260 MWp of PV power plants and 10 MW of battery storage capacity in Romania.
The planned four energy parks cover a total of 400 hectares in the Romanian counties of Arad, Dâmbovița and Bihar. The Group’s Green Assets division actively invests in solar and wind power plants as well as battery storage systems throughout Europe. The portfolio includes plants in various stages of development, from planning to operation. Three of the four projects have already reached construction maturity. Romania is a key market for MET Group. The company is not only focussing on the construction of solar parks, but is also making targeted investments in technologies such as stand-alone battery storage systems and combined storage solutions.
