MLB Insider Links Mariners To Reunion With $66 Million Eugenio Suárez
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Seattle Mariners look as good this year as they have in recent memory. They’re led by a loaded pitching staff and the emergence of Cal Raleigh as a generational slugger.
But they’re going to need to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline if they want a real shot at winning the World Series.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan recently listed the Mariners as one of the best fits in a potential blockbuster trade for Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suárez. Suárez played with the Mariners in 2022 and 2023.

“Suárez is in a contract year and playing like one of the best players in baseball. Only Cal Raleigh and Aaron Judge have more home runs than his 35,” Passan wrote. “Despite turning 34 years old before the trade deadline, Suárez is sitting near career highs in isolated power and wRC+ (which measures overall offensive performance).
“His fielding metrics have declined in recent years, but he’s still an acceptable defender at third base. Even if the Diamondbacks don’t offload all their free agents-to-be, Suárez could be moved because they’ve got Jordan Lawlar raking in Triple-A and primed to take over at third.”
The Mariners could be the perfect landing spot for Suárez. He’s familiar with the team, front office, coaching staff, and city. Adding him to a lineup with Raleigh hitting as well as he is would be a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
There are bound to be a lot of teams in pursuit of Suárez, though. The New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Detroit Tigers are three of the top teams with rumored interest in the star.
If Suárez continues to be the hottest hitter in the game over the next week, the Diamondbacks should land a haul in return for him. The Mariners have the talented prospects to make a deal happen.
