Moment ‘Big Baby’ Dog Is Comforted by Mom After Accidentally Getting Hurt
A video of a dramatic golden retriever seeking comfort from his mom has melted hearts on the internet.
In a viral TikTok video shared by owner Levi Blehm (@levi.s.b), the dog called Goose can be seen sitting on his mom’s head and feeling sorry for himself.
The on-screen text explains why, it said: “POV—You’re a dog that got hurt and yelped while playing with dad and you think he hurt you on purpose so now you need mom’s comfort.”
Racking up 542,800 views, Goose appears to be lapping up the love as he cuddles his mom and occasionally looks at Blehm with puppy dog eyes.
The couple can be heard calling the dog a “big baby,” which is quite normal, as many pet owners today view their furry companions as family members.
According to a Pew Research Center survey, about half of U.S. pet owners consider their pets to be as much a part of their family as a human member. The survey, conducted in April 2023 with 5,073 U.S. adults, found that 62 percent of Americans own pets, and nearly all pet owners (97 percent) see their pets as family. Women, people with lower incomes, and urban residents are particularly likely to hold this view.
The results also found that unmarried pet owners and those who do not have children younger than 18 at home are the most likely to consider their pets to be as much a part of their family as a human member. And dog owners are slightly more likely than cat owners to consider their pets equivalent to human family members.
In a previous interview with Newsweek, two dog owners discussed treating their pets like babies. Amanda Synowiecki, who owns a Chihuahua, said, “I take her with me everywhere as if she couldn’t be home alone like a baby. She’s the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing I think of when I go to bed.”
TikTok Reacts
So far, the clip shared on May, 23, has over 83,000 likes and almost 350 comments.
One user said: “He’s mad at you and needs his mama. You can sleep on the couch.”
“He is not ACTING like a baby, he IS a baby. He’s a delicate tiny baby who needs his mama bc dad played too mean,” said another user.
A third commenter suggested: “Give him time to decompress! Being hurt is scary, OK.”
