NASCAR Expected To Make Major 2025 Calendar Announcement Imminently
NASCAR is set to unveil the 2025 schedules for its Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series tomorrow, according to a report from Sports Business Journal.
The 2025 Cup Series schedule will feature a points race in Mexico. This race marks the first time in 67 years that the Cup Series ventures outside the U.S. for a points event. The season opener will see another notable change, with the Busch Light Clash moving to Bowman-Gray Stadium in North Carolina.
Adding to the excitement, North Carolina’s Rockingham Speedway, under new ownership by Rockingham Properties, will once again host NASCAR events, bringing back the venue for the Xfinity and Truck series races for the first time since 2004.
Other noteworthy changes in the 2025 schedules include the World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis featuring in the playoffs for the first time and Daytona reclaiming its position as the regular-season finale.
Looking ahead, NASCAR’s proactive scheduling doesn’t stop with 2025. Plans for 2026 are already underway, including potential expansion into new global markets.
Chad Seigler, NASCAR’s Chief International Officer, spoke about the expanding calendar earlier in the year, as Newsweek previously reported:
“Our model’s a little different from some of the other, what I would call global platforms, in the sense that we don’t necessarily take our Cup Series and pack it up and move it around the world.
“That’s not our business model. What we try to do is create individual series in those markets that we’re targeting. Our goal is to build an infrastructure in those markets. You want to create local stories, local team owners, local mechanics, and really expose the sport of NASCAR to markets outside of the US. The goal is to develop all those while at the same time, if you have a young driver that says, ‘Instead of going to F1, my goal is to go to Daytona,’ we’re providing them a platform.”
