The NASCAR Cup Series is set to take on Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania this weekend. Following a dramatic race at the Chicago Street Course, where Alex Bowman clinched a victory in challenging conditions, the series moves back to a purpose built circuit.
At the recent NASCAR Cup race in Chicago, Bowman overcame fluctuating track conditions to edge past Joey Hand. While navigating through wet and drying patches, Bowman managed his wet tires expertly. Tyler Reddick, another serious contender, saw his hopes dashed against the wall on the final lap, even as he was making significant advances on slick tires. The drama didn’t stop after the race either with Bubba Wallace being handed a $50,000 fine for intentionally slamming into Bowman on the cooldown lap.
Denny Hamlin returns to Pocono as the defending champion, although his last victory was clouded by controversy after a fiercely competitive clash with Kyle Larson.
When to watch NASCAR at Pocono: The Great American Getaway 400
The NASCAR weekend at Pocono kicks off with the Truck Series events on Friday, July 12, followed by the Xfinity Series on Saturday. The main event, the NASCAR Cup Series race, billed as “The Great American Getaway 400,” is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
