New Jersey Drone Sightings LIVE: NY To Get ‘State-Of-The-Art’ Detection Systems
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has requested special detection systems for New York and New Jersey after a spate of recent drone sightings spread panic among residents. The Robin Radar Systems, requested from the Department of Homeland Security, have 360-degree detection so may be better at picking up drone activity. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul added that the government “are deploying a state-of-the-art drone detection system to New York State,” at her request. “This system will support state and federal law enforcement in their investigations.” The systems are being deployed after drone activities closed runways at Stewart International Airport to close for an hour Friday. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confirmed the government was “deploying additional resources” to tackle the sightings.
