New Sign Appears at the White House

A new sign has appeared outside the Oval Office at the White House, according to a photo posted by CNN’s White House correspondent Kaitlin Collins.

The sign comes amid renovations to the White House’s east wing. President Donald Trump decided to renovate the east wing to make a new ballroom that could hold 650 people at a seated event. Trump’s criticized the previous space for being too small for hosting international dignitaries and wasn’t fitting for the formality of White House events.

Collins posted a photo on Twitter on Wednesday morning of the sign on the outside of the White House that reads “The Oval Office.” The sign is against a white background and has gold, cursive lettering.

The sign sparked some criticism for being a different white color than the paint on the outside of the White House and for resembling what you would see at Mar-a-Lago.

Jeremy Berke, editor in chief of Cultivated News, commented that it looked like an “Italian mafia restaurant in the far rockaways.”

Newsweek reached out to The White House for comment via email but did not receive a response in time for publication.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
