NFC Rival Proposes Rule Change That Would Be Massive Hit for Eagles
The NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a blowout victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, led by three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.
The Eagles dominated the Super Bowl with their defensive line, constantly pressuring Mahomes and forcing him to make uncharacteristic mistakes.
However, the key reason the Eagles were so successful last season and years prior was the Tush Push.

The Tush Push is what the Eagles use whenever they need to succeed in short-yardage situations.
It involves Jalen Hurts under center getting the ball and being pushed by guys behind him through the offensive line for a first down or a touchdown.
It has been so successful, that in this year’s NFL rule proposals, the Green Bay Packers have proposed a rule to ban the move popularized by the Eagles.
The NFL has distributed club rule change proposals — including the #Packers’ formal proposal to ban the Tush Push / Brotherly Shove.
The competition committee, whose ideas generally have a better chance of being adopted, will reveal its proposals next week. pic.twitter.com/tEJXyYoYnQ

Out of all the teams to propose the rule, the Packers don’t seem like the obvious team to do so, but given how many teams likely want it banned, it’s possible the Packers are just one of many teams who want to propose this rule change.
While the Eagles are still a great team without the Tush Push, it is a huge part of their identity and played a huge role in their victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship last season.

It is already hard enough to repeat as Super Bowl champions, with the Chiefs being the most recent team to do so after failing to three-peat against the Eagles.
With no Tush Push, the odds for the Eagles to repeat would become even lower.
Philadelphia themselves also proposed a rule change, which would take the current postseason overtime rules of both teams getting the ball in overtime, and apply it to the regular season.
That rule change is something that would extend regular season games but would be more fair and provide more interesting overtime periods in the regular season.
The last interesting rule change proposed by a team was a rule that would eliminate automatic first downs for defensive holding and illegal contact penalties. This was proposed by the Detroit Lions.
While there are often interesting rule change proposals that come out of these NFL meetings, not many are this direct with attacking a specific team.
The potential ban has been discussed in the past among the public as something that should be considered, but now that it is actually an official proposal, it will be interesting to see what the final conclusion will be.
