NFL Teams Believe Travis Kelce Has Decided His NFL Future
With NFL free agency approaching in the coming days, a final decision from veteran tight end Travis Kelce could be imminent as he continues to contemplate retirement.
A key reason for that is the fact that Kelce, if he elects to return, would be considered an unrestricted free agent. With Kansas City Chiefs in the middle of a pivotal offseason, getting his deal done sooner rather than later could be ideal for both sides.
As of now, it appears Kelce may have already signaled his decision. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on Sunday that growing speculation around the league suggests many teams expect Kelce to return to the Chiefs for a 14th season.
“Based on conversations with several teams, TE Travis Kelce appears motivated to return to play a 14th season,” Russini reported. “The Chiefs remain very much in the mix to re-sign the three-time Super Bowl champion and four-time All-Pro.”

Kelce, 36, remains one of the more productive tight ends in the NFL despite some slight regression in his overall statistics over the past few seasons.
This past year, he recorded 76 receptions for 851 yards and five touchdowns while averaging over 11 yards per catch. He also finished among the top five in receiving yards at the tight end position.
The Chiefs have already made several moves to get back under the salary cap and create financial flexibility as they look to make additional roster moves and return to contention after missing the playoffs with a 6–11 record this past season.
