No One Prepared for Moment Two Dogs Lock Eyes Through Car Windows—’Sobbing’
A chance encounter between two cars has captured hearts online—thanks to a fleeting yet cinematic moment featuring two dogs and a well-chosen soundtrack.
TikTok user Nata Intskirveli (@nataintskirveli) shared a video showing two separate vehicles cruising side by side in a tunnel. In each car sat a dog, and as the cars moved apart the canines locked eyes—an unspoken connection set to “Strangers in the Night” by Frank Sinatra. The post has since amassed more than 862,600 likes and 3.5 million views.
The chosen soundtrack has its own rich history. Written by Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder, the song was recorded by Sinatra in April 1966. It marked his first U.S. Hot 100 number-one in more than a decade and remained on the chart for 15 weeks.
The romantic ballad tells the story of two people who meet by chance and instantly feel a connection that changes their lives. The song captures the magic of love at first sight—that fleeting, almost cinematic moment when two strangers lock eyes and realize something deeper is beginning.
The pairing of the dogs in motion and the haunting lyric “Strangers in the night… exchanging glances” resonated deeply with viewers, their reactions ranged from playful to emotional.
“Two lonely people we were strangers in the night,” shared one user.
“Little did we know love was just a glance way a warm embrace away,” chimed in another. “Dead such a good music choice,” shared another viewer.
“Right dog, wrong time,” said another viewer.
“No replies. Sobbing at this,” shared another user.
Beyond its emotional resonance, the clip also touches on a practical side of pet travel.
According to guides from the American Kennel Club and other animal welfare authorities, when traveling by car with a dog it’s important to acclimatize them to the vehicle, secure them safely (via harness, crate or designated dog seat), keep the environment comfortable (ventilation, water, breaks) and avoid distractions for the driver.
According to Nutra Vet, when traveling with your dog, preparing them gradually can help minimize anxiety and make the journey more comfortable. Start with short car trips—perhaps just a drive to the park or pet shop—so your pet becomes familiar with the experience and doesn’t associate the car solely with stressful events.
