NY Giants Legend Surprises Jaxson Dart with Personal Note

Since landing on the New York Giants out of Ole Miss, Jaxson Dart has had a few run-ins with his franchise’s legendary passer, Eli Manning.

Recently, Manning sent another helpful message to the rookie quarterback on a signed jersey, which was revealed by Fanatics.

“Every day, you have a choice to get better or get worse. No one stays the same. Make the right choice,” Manning wrote on the jersey that was gifted to Dart ahead of his first NFL season.

“This is special,” Dart said. “Not a lot of people have this.”

Eli Manning is a former player who needs no introduction in New York. Similar to Dart, Manning started his career with the Giants after playing at Ole Miss. At first, Manning wasn’t expected to get a nod to start with the team.

During his rookie season, Manning picked up seven starts in the nine games he appeared in. From that point on, Manning was a full-time starter until the 2019 NFL season. Manning would suit up for four games that year, before getting benched after a 1-3 start.

When Manning called it a career, he had 236 games under his belt. He finished with a 117-117 record, throwing for over 57,000 yards and 366 touchdowns. On six occasions, Manning put together playoff runs with the Giants and achieved an 8-4 record in the postseason. In 2007 and 2011, Manning helped lead the Giants to Super Bowl victories.

Dart’s career isn’t expected to start on the same path as Manning’s, but that will depend on the Giants’ performance early on during the 2025 NFL season. For now, Dart sits third on the depth chart, trailing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.

At the start of training camp, Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it clear that Wilson is the starter. If the veteran passer struggles, that could open up an opportunity for the Giants to allow their first-round rookie to gain valuable snaps early on in his career, before giving him the keys to the franchise for year two and beyond.

For the time being, Dart will learn under Wilson and Winston, soaking up all of the knowledge he needs. Eli Manning is also one call away if the young rookie needs him.
