Oath Keepers Leader Stewart Rhodes visits Capitol Hill after Trump Clemency
Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the far-right extremist group Oath Keepers and convicted of seditious conspiracy in the January 6, 2021, attack, made a visit to Capitol Hill on Wednesday following President Donald Trump’s commutation of his 18-year prison sentence.
The Associated Press reported that Rhodes was seen on Capitol Hill.
Rhodes’ visit occurred a day after he was released from prison due to Trump’s clemency order, which benefitted over 1,500 individuals charged with federal crimes related to the January 6 attack. Rhodes had been convicted in one of the most serious cases prosecuted by the Justice Department stemming from the riot, which resulted in injuries to more than 100 police officers.
