Orbán: MKIK remains the government’s ‘most important partner’
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán affirmed that the Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (MKIK) remained the government’s “most important partner” in the economy, following a meeting with the body’s newly elected head, Elek Nagy.
Bertalan Havasi, the PM’s press chief, said on Tuesday that the sides agreed that cooperation between the government and MKIK was “indispensable” for establishing effective programs and addressing economic challenges. The government and the chamber have common goals, and the government welcomes MKIK’s proposals, he added.
Nagy presented the chamber’s short- and mid-term goals, drafted after broad consultations, and proposed joint programmes to strengthen businesses’ capital position, support their entry into foreign markets, and make technological innovations more accessible.
He proposed a 15-point action plan including measures to cut administration, reduce businesses’ payroll burden and support the green and digital transitions.
Nagy pledged to keep the prime minister regularly informed on efforts to coordinate with the government on all important matters.
