Orbán received in private audience by Pope Leo XIV
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was received in a private audience by Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on Monday. Following the meeting, the prime minister also held talks with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
According to a statement from the Holy See, the discussions took place in a cordial atmosphere and underscored the strength of bilateral relations between Hungary and the Vatican. The parties highlighted the Catholic Church’s commitment to promoting social development and the well-being of the Hungarian community.
Particular attention was given to the importance of family, the education and future of young people, and the protection of the most vulnerable Christian communities. The talks also addressed major international issues, with a focus on the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
