Patrick Mahomes Calls Out Chiefs After Tough Loss to Bills
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs got off to a slow start to the 2025 NFL season. However, in recent weeks, the Chiefs have started looking like a potential Super Bowl contender heading into Week 9 action against the Buffalo Bills.
In a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game, Kansas City was unable to come out with a win.
When all was said and done, the Chiefs ended up losing to Josh Allen and the Bills by a final score of 28-21. It was an incredibly entertaining game, but Buffalo made more winning plays throughout the contest.

Following the loss, Kansas City now holds a 5-4 record. Mahomes and company are far from being a clear-cut playoff team and have a lot of work left ahead of them.
After losing to the Bills, Mahomes was asked about whether or not he could see the Chiefs knocking Buffalo out of the playoffs again. Mahomes clearly did not love that question.
“We gotta get there first,” Mahomes said.
He also proceeded to get honest about his team and call out the entire roster. Of course, he included himself in that message.
“We’ve had great moments, we’ve had bad moments. We have to be more consistent as a team,” Mahomes said. “I have to be more consistent as a quarterback. And we have to be able to battle.”
Mahomes completed just 15 of his 34 pass attempts throughout the loss to Buffalo for 250 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. It clearly was not his best performance. Outside of Mahomes, there weren’t many players who played up to their full potential.
On one hand, there are some positives to be taken. Kansas City had its superstar quarterback play a bad game and still only lost to the Bills by one touchdown. That shows hope for the future.

Hopefully, the Chiefs are able to bounce back strong from this loss. Mahomes sending a strong message to his teammates and himself is exactly the kind of leadership that has made Kansas City so strong in recent years.
Next up for the Chiefs will be a much-needed by week before hitting the road to take on the Denver Broncos in Week 11.
