Patriots Receive Huge Injury News Before Training Camp
The New England Patriots are set to begin training camp. With the NFL season officially getting underway, fan excitement is picking up steam.
When it comes to the Patriots, fans are excited to put last season behind. It was a brutal year in every aspect, but it led to a lot of changes that the franchise is excited about.
First and foremost, Robert Kraft made the quick decision to move on from first-year head coach Jerod Mayo right after the final game of the season ended. He quickly pursued Mike Vrabel to replace Mayo and was able to get his man.

Following the head coaching change, New England made quite a few big roster moves. One of those moves was the signing of veteran star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Bringing in a true No. 1 target for Drake Maye was a clear priority for the Patriots. They believe that Diggs could be that guy.
There were some questions surrounding the signing. Obviously, the biggest question had to do with Diggs’ health. He has been recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the middle of last season with the Houston Texans.
Despite the question about his knee, Diggs has received a huge injury update heading into training camp.
According to a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Diggs has been cleared to practice on the first day of training camp on Wednesday.
“New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who reported to training camp Saturday with other rehabilitating players, is cleared to practice for the first day of training camp Wednesday, according to a source,” Reiss wrote.
Diggs played just eight games last season with the Texans before the ACL injury ended his year. He caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns.

Back in the 2023 campaign with the Buffalo Bills, he racked up 107 catches for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. Those numbers show the potential that made New England believe he could be a No. 1 wide receiver for Maye.
Only time will tell whether or not Diggs can be the kind of impact player that the Patriots hope he can be. However, this is a huge step in the right direction.
He will be on the field on day one and will be able to work on his chemistry with Maye and get back to mental strength coming back from such a serious injury.
