A small plane crashed into the West Galveston Bay in Galveston, Texas Monday afternoon, according to local media reports and officials.
A dive team, crime scene unit and drone unit have been deployed after the plane crashed near the base of a causeway, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) said in a post on Facebook. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has also responded to the scene.
It is not immediately clear if there are any injuries or fatalities, but a Coast Guard spokesman told the Houston Chronicle that six people were reported to be in the water following the crash.
Newsweek reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by email Monday for more information.
