Pope Francis Health: Vatican Gives Monday Evening Update
Doctors announced Monday that Pope Francis is no longer in immediate danger of death from the pneumonia that has kept him hospitalized for nearly a month, though he will remain under medical care for several more days to continue treatment.
In a late update, doctors reported that the 88-year-old pope remains stable and has shown continued improvement in recent days, as confirmed by blood tests and positive responses to medication.
The Vatican stated that physicians have lifted their previous “guarded” prognosis, indicating that the pope is no longer at immediate risk from the respiratory infection he was admitted with on February 14. However, they remain cautious about his condition.
