Potential Tigers Reunion ‘Would Mean a Lot’ to Slugger Eugenio Suárez

The Detroit Tigers don’t have many holes in their lineup, but third base is one the team is likely going to look to address.

As they’ve been linked to Eugenio Suárez a lot over the last month, the veteran infielder still has a soft spot for the Tigers — the place where his big-league career began.

“To finish where everything started, it would be cool,” Suárez told Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. “It would mean a lot to me.”

Detroit would certainly benefit from Suárez’s production at the plate. He entered the second half of the season with 31 home runs and 78 RBI, fourth in baseball in both categories.

However, Suárez was the first to admit that the Tigers are a completely different team now than they were when he was there 10 years ago.

“It’s a new team with a lot of young guys and a lot of talent,” Suárez told Petzold. “I think they have a really good chance to make it more than the playoffs this year.”

Suárez would be welcomed back to Detroit with open arms, as Tigers fans know this is their best chance to win a World Series in a long time. He would give the lineup a major boost while also continuing to flash the leather in his mid-30s.

“Baseball is baseball,” he said. “I might be finishing where everything started. It doesn’t sound crazy. We’ll see.”

It would certainly be a fairytale ending for him to return to the Tigers and help them go deep into the playoffs, as he would likely earn himself his final long-term contract of his career.
