Ravens Lose Key Starter for ‘Multiple Weeks’ After Chiefs Loss
Sunday’s Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs was about as devastating as any for the Baltimore Ravens.
Not only did Baltimore get blown out 37-20, but it also saw several key players go down with concerning injuries including star quarterback Lamar Jackson, offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley, cornerback Marlon Humphrey.
While Jackson’s injury was the most worrying of all, his doesn’t appear to be a long-term situation. All-Pro defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike wasn’t as fortunate, however, as he’s been ruled out for the season with a neck injury suffered back in Week 2.
As the injuries continue to pile up, the Ravens know they will be without at least one starter for a few games as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported star linebacker Roquan Smith will miss some time after Sunday’s loss.
“#Ravens All-Pro LB Roquan Smith was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, sources say, and he’ll miss a few weeks. Another Baltimore injury to its maligned defense,” Rapoport stated.

The 28-year-old linebacker, who signed a five-year, $100 million contract with Baltimore in January 2023, registered just two tackles in Sunday’s matchup against the Chiefs before leaving with a hamstring injury.
Losing him for any length of time is a gut-punch to an already struggling Ravens’ defense that’s surrendered a league-worst 33.3 points per game and 406.8 yards per game, second-worst in the NFL behind only the Dallas Cowboys (420.5).
Smith, who’s logged 154 or more tackles each of his first three full years with the Ravens after being acquired at the 2022 trade deadline, is Baltimore’s leading tackler this season (34), and he leads the team with four tackles for loss plus a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.
