Red Sox Urged To Swing Blockbuster Trade For Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The Boston Red Sox have made a few moves to improve on their disappointing 2024 season, but they really haven’t made any game-breaking acquisitions yet.
This could change if Boston acquires a talent like Alex Bregman in free agency, but it seems as though the Red Sox are slowly drifting out of the Bregman sweepstakes. If they fall out of it entirely, they need to make some kind of move to save their offseason.
Cody Williams of FanSided recently predicted the Red Sox to pursue a blockbuster trade for rival superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. if they miss out on Bregman. This is, of course, on the off chance the Toronto Blue Jays actually explore trading him, which is still very questionable as of now.

“The Red Sox have long felt like the best next landing spot for Guerrero and it’s hard for me to also not think that some of the slow-playing we’ve seen in this offseason from (Craig) Breslow is with eyes on Vladdy next winter,” Williams wrote. “But they could also jumpstart that process by offering someone like Marcelo Mayer and a bevy of other prospects. Even after the (Garrett) Crochet trade, Boston has one of the best farm systems in baseball that could absolutely help the Blue Jays start a new chapter post-Vladdy and Bo Bichette.”
Again, it’s pretty unlikely the Blue Jays will trade Guerrero, but if they do, the Red Sox may be the top suitor.
In a deal like this, Toronto may not want to trade a superstar to one of its division rivals, but the Red Sox could offer the best package for him. Players like Triston Casas, Wilyer Abreu, Marcelo Mayer, or plenty of other prospects could be involved to make a deal go through.
Is a Guerrero trade on the horizon?
