Red Sox Urged To Use Talented Outfield Prospect As Valuable Trade Bait
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Boston Red Sox will likely be pretty aggressive at the trade deadline. The team needs to add to its starting rotation and at first base. There’s a chance they add a bullpen arm, too, but starting pitcher and first base remain the top priorities.
Acquiring the kind of talent the Red Sox would want wouldn’t be cheap. Boston would need to cut ties with some talented prospects in order to land the pitching it needs.
FanSided’s Eric Cole recently predicted the Red Sox would cut ties with talented outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia at the trade deadline.

“The Password has been a popular name in baseball this year as he has gotten a chance to shine now that the buzz around the Big Three has faded a bit,” Cole wrote. “The tools with Garcia are loud, in particular his raw power.
“However, Boston seems to have played their way into playoff contention again and their outfield is a clogged mess at the moment. Trading Garcia could redistribute their talent a bit into areas that are weaker and clarify the outfield picture a bit going forward.”
If the Red Sox are going to chase the big trade targets, they’re going to need to use big trade bait. Garcia is the most obvious piece to be moved because he’s going to struggle to find playing time in Boston’s loaded outfield either way.
As of now, the Red Sox have four star outfielders vying for playing time. Garcia likely wouldn’t be able to compete for playing time with this group of guys ahead of him.
Instead, he could be sent to an outfield-needy team in a trade that brings the Red Sox a reliable pitcher.
