Republican Ousted By Democrat in Shock Election Defeat

Alaska’s City of Fairbanks Mayor David Pruhs, a Republican, conceded to Democratic candidate Mindy O’Neall in the mayoral election on Tuesday night.

“The election results are in. I lost,” Pruhs said, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported. “When you’re 250 votes down … you can’t kid yourself. It is what it is.”

Republicans have held the mayoralty for over a decade.
