Rudy Giuliani Rages at Judge Over Fani Willis Ruling

Rudy Giuliani has attacked Judge Scott McAfee who on Friday ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis can continue prosecuting Donald Trump and other defendants, including the former New York mayor, in the Georgia election-interference case.

McAfee ruled Willis could continue presiding over the case as long as Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with, was removed. Shortly after this decision, Wade announced his resignation “in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to move this case forward as quickly as possible.”

Giuliani was one of 18 people indicted alongside Trump over claims they broke the law while attempting to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory in the state of Georgia. Newsweek contacted the Superior Court of Fulton County, where McAfee works, by telephone and voicemail message on Saturday outside of usual business hours. This article will be updated if he decides to comment.

Trump’s legal team was hoping to have Willis removed from the Georgia case, at the minimum necessitating a long delay and potentially causing the trial to collapse. The past week also saw Trump’s New York hush-money case pushed back by a week and Florida Judge Aileen Cannon rejecting a bid to get his classified documents case thrown out for being “unconstitutionally vague.”

Speaking on conservative network Newsmax, Giuliani, a close Trump ally and legal adviser following the 2020 presidential election, hit out at McAfee’s decision. He said: “This is absurd. This judge is a disgrace. He’s an absolute disgrace.

“This woman [Willis] committed perjury right in front of him… What kind of a sissy boy is he? The woman made a fool out of him, treated him like garbage… This judge has so little regard for the law.”

Giuliani was charged on 13 counts including violating Georgia’s anti-organized crime RICO act, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree and conspiracy to file false documents. He, like Trump, has pled not guilty to all charges and strongly denies any wrongdoing.

On Friday, Giuliani also reiterated his concerns about the integrity of the 2020 presidential election in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

He posted: “It’s no coincidence that three of the states with the most questions concerning election integrity and secure voting also happen to be the largest ‘Swing States’ in the country.

“Pennsylvania (#5), Georgia (#8), and Michigan (#10) saw some of the worst problems in 2020…” Giuliani added.

Trump is continuing to insist the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him by fraud, though this claim has been repeatedly rejected in court and by independent legal and election experts.

McAfee’s decision to let Willis continue with the election-interference case also sparked an angry response from House Republican Ronny Jackson, a Trump ally from Texas.

In a post on X, Jackson said: “Another POLITICALLY MOTIVATED Judge!! Fani Willis should be DISBARRED, her boyfriend prosecutor should be FIRED, and ALL CHARGES NEED TO BE DROPPED! Americans are SICK of these endless Witch Hunts! ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!”

However, other X users hit back, with one pointing out McAfee was appointed by Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp. Another asked: “Did you open your medicine cabinet early today?”

Trump is also being prosecuted at the federal level over claims he acted illegally while attempting to overturn the 2020 election result on a national level. He has pled not guilty to all counts and has repeatedly said the charges against him are politically motivated.
