Russell Wilson Could Join Pete Carroll on Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly hired former Seattle Seahawks chief Pete Carroll as their new head coach in 2025 and rumors are already spreading that his former quarterback Russell Wilson may join him in Sin City.

As NFL Insider Ian Rapoport noted, “Russell Wilson wanted to go the #Raiders last offseason…” and it stands to reason that the QB may have even more incentive to look to Las Vegas now.
According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Wilson, who spent 10 years under Carroll in Seattle, is a “name to watch” for the Raiders in free agency.
The two are said to have “mended fences” after their time together, and a reunion could serve as a short-term fix for Las Vegas as they search for a long-term solution at quarterback.
With Pete Carroll taking over the Raiders, one name I’ve heard to watch at QB: Russell Wilson.
They’ve mended fences, per source, and Wilson could be a stopgap while the Raiders develop a long-term answer.

Wilson’s tenure with Carroll in Seattle was nothing short of legendary.
The duo led the Seahawks to a 104-53-1 record over their 10 years together, including two Super Bowl appearances and one victory. Wilson racked up over 37,000 yards, 292 touchdowns, and nine Pro Bowl selections, making him one of the most accomplished quarterbacks of the era.
But after being traded to the Denver Broncos in 2022, Wilson’s career took a downturn. He posted an 11-19 record over two seasons and was let go after the 2023 campaign.

In 2024, Wilson joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he showed flashes of his old self, throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 11 games, helping the Steelers make a playoff appearance.
However, his contract is up for 2025, and while Wilson could return to Pittsburgh, the Steelers are also exploring other quarterback options, leaving the door open for a possible return to the Raiders.
Las Vegas is in desperate need of stability at the quarterback position, having cycled through multiple quarterbacks in recent years.
Aidan O’Connell has filled in admirably but hasn’t proven himself as a long-term starter in the NFL. After five head coaches in just a few seasons, the Raiders are looking for a steady hand at the helm.
Although reports suggest Wilson is in contract negotiations with the Steelers, those talks predate Carroll’s hiring by the Raiders.
A move to Las Vegas could work out for both sides: the Raiders would gain stability at quarterback, while the Steelers could shift their focus to building for the future without a veteran who struggled in 2024.
A Wilson-Carroll reunion might not guarantee a Super Bowl, but it would certainly offer the Raiders a much-needed sense of continuity and leadership at the most important position on the field.
