Saints News: Chris Olave Game Status Revealed For Falcons Matchup

After suffering an injury in practice on Friday, New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Chris Olave was listed as questionable for the team’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. He was given a game-time decision status on Saturday but will officially play for New Orleans today.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the news on social media.

Ahead of the NFC South clash, this is massive news for the Saints. Without Olave, the team would have had to rely on others to step up heavily.

Olave has emerged as one of the better young wide receivers around the NFL and has been a favorite target of quarterback Derek Carr. Through three games of the new NFL season, Olave has caught 12 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown.

He singlehandedly draws opposing defenses to make sure they know where he is on the field at all times. This opens up the passing game for the other wideouts that New Orleans has on the field.

Rashid Shaheed has emerged for the Saints this season, catching seven passes for 169 yards and two scores. He could be a focal point of the offense against the Falcons, helping to spread the ball around.

Along with Olave, the Saints offense is run through running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara has been incredible for New Orleans through the first three games of the season, rushing for 285 yards and four touchdowns.

The veteran running back has shown that he can still lead an offensive attack and the Saints have been allowing him to shoulder the load. Pairing him with Olave gives New Orleans a nice one-two punch on the offensive side of the ball.

New Orleans has been one of the more interesting teams to start the NFL season. After dominating the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys in Weeks 1 and 2, the Saints laid an egg last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

They will be looking to get back on track in this contest and pick up another division win. The team will attempt to slow down the Falcons offense that has picked up some steam in recent weeks.

Atlanta enters this game with a record of 1-2 and will be looking to get themselves back on track after dropping their contest last week. This game could help decide the division down the line so each side will do what they can to get the victory.
