Sauce Gardner Snubs NY Giants Standout in Recent WR Debate
Last season, Malik Nabers quickly proved to the New York Giants that they made the right decision drafting him as their WR1 of the future. Despite what he was able to accomplish as a rookie, one of his competitors still snubbed him in a recent debate.
Even with a nagging toe injury and the Giants having a revolving door at quarterback, Nabers still shined in 2024. He landed Pro-Bowl honors as a rookie after totaling 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. Now with a more established veteran under center, Nabers is poised to climb the ranks at his position.

Earlier this week, New York Jets star Sauce Gardner was a guest on the Up & Adams show. During his interview, Kay Adams brought up how she dubbed Nabers the best wide receiver in New York. When asked his thoughts on the remark, Gardner stated that the title belongs to his teammate, Garrett Wilson.
“He’s very nice, and he’s going to be a very great player in this league from now until the future,” Wilson said of Nabers. “But like, obviously Garrett, we came in together and I just watched the evolution of him…He a freak of nature.”
Wilson has performed well for the Jets since arriving in 2022, racking up three straight 1,000-plus yard seasons. That said, he’s never had a campaign where he matched the production Nabers put up for the Giants last year. Nonetheless, the Jets still gave Wilson an extension this offseason worth $130 million over four years.

Gardner did the admirable thing by siding with his teammate, but Nabers has a strong case for being the best wideout in New York. His numbers outmatch Wilson’s, and he is a few years younger. In his sophomore campaign, he has a chance to solidify himself as the winner in this debate.
Throughout training camp, Nabers has been working hard with the Giants’ newest quarterback. He and Russell Wilson have already built a good relationship, which should translate to success on the field.
Now that he’ll be catching passes from a former Super Bowl winner, there is no telling how drastic of a leap Nabers will be able to make in year two. If Wilson is able to untap more of his potential, the Giants might not just have a top wideout in New York, but the entire NFL as well.
