Sources Indicate Quinn Ewers Made A Decision On Where He’ll Play Next Year
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers’ collegiate career could be nearing an end.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, before the Longhorns’ game against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Ewers responded “yes” when asked if he expects to play in the NFL next season.
Thamel added that sources close to Ewers made it clear to the outlet that the “overwhelming likelihood” is that Ewers will declare for the 2025 NFL draft.
Ewers was planning on leaving for the NFL after the 2023 season, but injuries hindered him, so he and his camp decided it was best to stay in college.
Over the past two seasons, Ewers has a 21-4 record. For his career, He has passed for 8,845 yards, 66 touchdowns to 23 interceptions while completing 65.1% of his passes.
While he has led the Longhorns to two semifinal appearances in the College Football Playoffs, Ewers has struggled with consistency as a passer. The flashes are there, but he would benefit from playing behind a veteran for a few seasons.
Should he declare for the draft, Ewers will join a quarterback class that consists of Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Miami’s Cam Ward, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, among others.
