“The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year,” wrote director, writer, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk in an open letter to fans in 2024.

What is Squid Game Season 3 About?

What Happens in Squid Game Season 2?
In the finale to Squid Game Season 2, the Squid Game competitors rise up against their captors. Rallied by Gi-hun, they battle to the facility’s control centre. However, they are betrayed by a fellow competitor.
Player 001 reveals himself to be the Front Man – the game’s overall architect. The Front Man crushes the uprising by killing Gi-hun’s best friend Jung-bae, ending Squid Game Season 2 on a shocking cliffhanger.
“I don’t think he knows yet,” Jung-jae tells Netflix Tudum when asked whether his character is fully aware of the conspiracy’s extent. “I think he’s blaming himself for everything that happened.”
