Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

“Survivor” Season 48 has been off and running since March 2025, and the cast was down to six remaining survivors heading into Episode 12, “Icarus Time.”

With only six survivors remaining, Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kamilla Karthigesu, Kyle Fraser, Shauhin Davari, and Mitch Guerra, the importance of alliances and the ability to trick people is going to matter even more.

What Happened in ‘Survivor’ Last Night?

The survivors question what the next move will be, whether it’s taking a major swing at the perceived majority leader, Joe, or possibly going along with the strong alliance that includes Eva, Kyle, and Mitch.

The reward challenge was revealed, forcing the survivors to hang on an angled wooden board, pushing themselves down in intervals to stay on the board. The winner gets a stay at the sanctuary, including a reward that includes burgers, fries, beer, and more.

After all were knocked out one by one, Shauhin wins the big reward, taking Joe and Kyle with him to bask in the rewards of sanctuary.

Naturally, Mitch and Kamilla are annoyed that Shauhin chose Joe and Kyle for the reward.

Joe and Shauhin discuss sending home Mitch, but Shauhin talks to Kyle about next steps. They understand that Kamilla and Mitch are a duo, as are Joe and Eva, but they are unsure where they stand in terms of voting anyone out. Little does Shauhin know that Kamilla is the true ally of Kamilla.

The immunity challenge sees the survivors have to balance on a barrel down a course and retrieve balls from a net by crawling under it. They then must maneuver the balls through a snake track on a table. After Shauhin takes an early lead, he is bested by Joe. With Joe winning immunity, it sets the stage for Kyle to make his biggest move.

Kyle tells Joe that Shauhin showed him a secret immunity idol. At first, Joe does not believe him, though the information begins to sink in.

Joe tells Eva the information, and Kyle uses Kamilla to corroborate his story with Joe.

Shauhin is approached by Joe and is asked point-blank about having any secret advantages. After Shauhin denies the claims, he states he wants to vote out Mitch.

Joe is annoyed at Shauhin for seemingly not telling the truth, and Shauhin wants to vote out Eva instead. He claims she will vote for Joe if she is on the jury.

Kamilla makes sure that Mitch is on voting out Shauhin, and she claims that her and Kyle are the real duo running the game.

Despite what Shauhin wants or claims, Joe leaves all the exchanges unsure about who is lying, which leads to an intense tribal council.

Who Went Home from ‘Survivor’ Last Night?

After Shauhin attempts to ensure that Mitch is voted off, he is the one that sees his name called. He receives four of the six votes, becoming the 13th member of Season 48 to go home.
