Szijjártó: Abraham Accords has done much for the cause of peace in Middle East
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said on Wednesday that he arrived in Morocco, “a country that, with its earlier accession to the Abraham Accords, has done much for the cause of peace in the Middle East”.
The minister said in a post on social media that after “a year that saw a series of tragic events in the region … we have finally received good news this morning”, noting the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which he said would allow Israelis and Lebanese to return to their homes and live in peace.
Minister Szijjártó said the international community must now ensure that “all parties respect the agreement” in the interest of everyone living in the region.
“A ceasefire, a cessation of fighting, is always good news,” he added.
“We hope that the next piece of good news will soon come from our neighbour,” the minister said, referring to Ukraine.
