‘That Was Absolute Bulls–t!’ Ty Dillon Explodes After Austin Cindric’s Controversial Move
Ty Dillon’s frustrations were evident this weekend after a dramatic crash at the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas, which saw an early confrontation between Dillon and fellow driver Austin Cindric.
Dillon’s words over the radio during the broadcast summed up his feelings:
“I’m not gonna say anything but you know what I’m thinking. That was some absolute bulls–t.”
The incident unfolded four laps into the race, where Dillon nudged Cindric off track during a turn, resulting in a light contact between their cars.

Cindric retaliated with a right-rear hook on Dillon, which led to Dillon’s car spinning wildly. To Dillon and his team, this driving appeared deliberate. Surprisingly, NASCAR officials decided not to penalize Cindric during the race, although there’s a chance they might review it in the coming week.
Such a review would be consistent with NASCAR’s evolving policies on aggressive driving, often allowing drivers to regulate their own actions unless something crosses a the line by a long way.
Austin Cindric, who drives for Team Penske, has had an impressive rise in NASCAR since his Cup Series entry. He secured a Daytona 500 win in his rookie year back in 2022. However, this season has been challenging so far, with Cindric trying to make up for a recently disappointing 28th-place finish at Atlanta.
This context paints a more detailed picture of why he might have been more assertive against Dillon, particularly given that the previous race he led much of before finishing eighth was another letdown.

Dillon is trying to rejuvenate his career with the more competitive equipment Kaulig provides. He, too, has had a challenging run recently, asserting his place as a competitor in the field has often demanded more aggressive driving.
He said the following, as reported by Newsweek Sports:
“For me, you know, this is the best opportunity I’ve had in my career, being with Kaulig Racing. My goals are high.
“I got into this sport to want to win races in the Cup Series and compete, to be in the playoffs, and I know this is my best opportunity yet.
“This is a team that has done that in the past. They’ve been to victory lane in this Cup Series in recent years. So, that’s something new for me to say that I’m a part of a team that’s actually won before me, you know, being a part of their team. So, I’m excited for that opportunity.
“I think this is the best chance for me to show what I’m capable of, what I’ve always believed in myself as a driver, and the opportunity ahead of me that I’ve been working so hard for.”
